The most prominent restaurant just as you leave the main gate.  I think it's more popular with Japanese tourists than Americans.  I've eaten here a couple of times but today they were opening at 11:30am and I didn't want to wait.  Also, there were already some Japanese tourists lined up.

<------------------------------------------------------>

The timing was right today as I got out for lunch a little later than usual and it was raining (no tourists) so I headed back to Honey Bee for a burger.

It looks like a cute place with a 50s diner vibe going on.  But pretty soon as you get in you'll start noticing some rather unfriendly messages popping up such as "no outside food or drinks allowed" and "if you sit, you have to order something" and just a generally unfriendly demeanor overall.  The waitress was Japanese polite, but just that, nothing more.  It's odd...I don't usually have these emotional reactions to the negativity of a place but this restaurant oozes "we don't really want your business" and  maybe that's on purpose if their primary clientele are Japanese tourists.

They do, however lay claim to being the first restaurant here to serve the "navy burger" (a dubious claim, but it is rather prominently displayed).  Since my last visit here was unmemorable, I decided to try the actual 1200 yen navy burger with all the trimmings, bringing it right up to 2000 yen.  While it was huge, there was little in the way of flavor from the ingredients.  And the enormous wedge of white onion was quite unappealing and did not get eaten.  A pity it couldn't be carmelized and *then* put it on...that would have amped the flavors up a lot.  The cheese was processed, of course, and the meat, once again, just doesn't have much of a taste to it.  I even broke down and added mayo and salt and pepper to see if it could be sparked to life with little success.

With so little to recommend it, I can't help but give this place a "not great" rating.
