Meal:  Lunch? (travel)
Price: 65 AED
Payment: Credit cards accepted
Dishes: Omelet, side of avocado
English Menu: Yes

Stuck in Dubai Airport I found this Tranzeet restaurant that had an omelet on the menu.  I ate it.  It looked good, but wasn't that great when eaten.  Overcooked eggs, flavorless cheese, avocado not fully ripe.  Sadly.  The tomatoes were good though.

Last night we ate at one of the fancy places along Jumeira Beach here in Dubai.  Even though we'd eaten Indian (ish) for lunch we were still up for some more at Bombay Bungalow.  The decor inside is quite nice and the food was absolutely delicious, though much more expensive than lunch!

We went to the Gold Souk area yesterday and while wandering around spied a sign for Ginger Garlic Restaurant.  Following the signs into the bowels of the buildings we eventually found a very local spot to eat.  Women might not feel comfortable there as there were none, all Indian and Pakistani men.

Mutton biryani

The food was very cheap, but tasty.  I only rank it at this level because they didn't have all the chicken dishes advertised and I was a bit disappointed by that.  Finding this spot again would be a challenge!

Cho Gao

Location: Cho Gao

Rating: Very good
Meal:  Breakfast
Price: 4 BHD
Payment: Credit cards accepted
Dishes: Beef tapsilog
English Menu: Yes
Smoking: No

I was in transit back from Bahrain and had a short layover in Dubai.  It was breakfast time and I hate airplane food so I went looking for something not repulsive for breakfast.  On the specials sign for the "neuvo" Asian restaurant Cho Gao, I saw a Filipino dish advertised (beef tapsilog).  Yay!

I had a few Bahraini dinar left so they let me pay with those.  The dish took a while to cook, but it was quite good.  The egg was a disappointment though as they asked me how I wanted it, to which I responded "over-easy".  I don't know but when I am asked how I want something and I specify it, that's when my expectations are set.  When the dish arrived the egg was rubbery and hard...oh well.  The beef itself was very tasty and tender, and it went well with the rice.

I have no idea what the rest of the food at this restaurant is like, but this dish was very good, despite the egg.
